Washington, DC native Marcus Braxton, 44, has been charged in connection to the fatal stabbing of his 22-year-old son, Melodias Scindian, of Suitland, over the weekend, authorities announced on Monday, June 12.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department were called to a home in the 4400 block of West Summer Road in Suitland, where there was a reported stabbing involving family members involved in a dispute.

It is unclear what led to the argument.

Police say that Braxton stabbed his son during the disagreement, then fled the scene, though he didn’t make it far and was apprehended hours later by the police near the scene of the stabbing.

Scindian was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Braxton was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other offenses related to the fatal stabbing. He is being held without bond by the Department of Corrections.
